A Married Couple Becomes Alarmed About Their Irresponsible And Hazardous Drinking And Asks Themselves If They Display Any Alcohol Dependency Signs

Angie and Lenny have been married for three years. They wanted to have some excitement and fun before they decided to have a family and so they consciously developed an exceptionally exciting social life.

The principal problem, however, is that just about everything they do to have fun has something to do with drinking. For instance, all of the sporting events, dinner engagements, family get-togethers, parties with friends, and happy hours they frequent are associated with drinking.

If they were occasional drinkers this wouldn't be a major problem. Since they drink in an excessive manner, nonetheless, they are starting to notice some definite alcohol-related issues in their lives.

As an illustration, just three weeks ago Lenny received his first DUI and has been showing up late for work due to alcohol-related health problems. Not only this, but Lenny's last two performance reviews at his place of employment have been less than satisfactory and he has started to forget what he does or says the times that he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family is starting to exhibit apprehension about his drinking difficulties.

Similar to Lenny's situation, Angie has been feeling depressed about things in her life and to manage these feelings, she has been drinking more often than any time in the past year. What is more, Angie has been experiencing more than a few painful migraines and going through terrible hangovers after drinking. Lastly, Angie has been feeling considerably less energetic in the morning, she has been showing up late for work, and she has been getting some unkind criticism from her relatives, friends, family members, and coworkers about her careless drinking.

One Monday evening while watching TV, Lenny and Angie flipped through the channels and discovered a documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This TV documentary was a real bombshell to Lenny and Angie because some of the alcohol facts that were listed looked as if they were unswervingly associated with more than a few of the drinking problems Angie and Lenny had been suffering through.

With thoughts of the TV program still running through her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been exhibiting could mean that they are alcohol dependent or maybe becoming dependent on alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he suggested that they make an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the local alcohol abuse treatment center to find out more about the severity of their drinking circumstances.

Strangely enough, even though their drinking behavior hadn't yet changed, it was obvious that Angie and Lenny were at least addressing their drinking problems, they were ready to find out more about their drinking circumstances, and they were interested in discovering how they could significantly reduce or get rid of the alcohol-related problems that had started to escalate.

When Angie and Lenny went to bed that night, they made up their minds that the next afternoon, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol rehab center located in the middle of town. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to defeat the drinking issues that had cropped up in their lives, they actually had the most revitalizing night's sleep they could think of in the last seven weeks.
